We got a new dining room table, sort of. When we moved from Topeka to KC we sold our large table b/c it wasn't going to fit in our apartment. We bought a small 4 person table for that place. We have now moved into a bigger house and our small table was just too small. My first thought was, of course, to buy a bigger table. Matt told me that he was going to make our current table bigger. I was not a big fan of this idea at all, but I am now eating my words!
Here is what our table looked like before. It was small, that's for sure.
He built out the sides and put a new top on it. I still wasn't sure about it at this point. We painted the black line around it b/c we had to fill screw holes and the stain wouldn't cover that. I now like the painted line, I think it gives it a little something!
We stained it a color that matched the rest of the wood in the house. We already had 4 chairs with wood seats, so we matched it to that. I like the contrast of the black with the stain.
Here is the table all stained and just waiting for the clear coats. I was really starting to eat my words at this point!

This is the finished product (pretty much), we just need to add one more coat of the clear stuff. I think we did a pretty good job of making it match! We also need to get some more seats since we only have 4. I am thinking about getting a bench as well as 2 chairs that are different from the others just to make it more interesting! I am so happy Matt did this and I really do like it!
